VMLogix LabManager has support for multiple virtualization platforms from all leading technology providers including Citrix, Microsoft and VMware. In addition to virtual machines, users can also bring physical machine hosts under the purview of LabManager and central lab management. As you get setup, you can bring additional lab artefacts such as software licenses and user scripts to be managed via VMLogix LabManager. LabManager also has significant flexibility in external storage configurations with hybrid storage support and the ability to freely map external storage to multiple hosts.
Multiple accounts can be configured in LabManager and fine grained user management provides powerful control over individual account access and permissions to various functions in the product. LabManager also works well with existing LDAP/AD systems and multiple such servers can be connected to LabManager.

Once users are setup on LabManager, they can create or import machine templates, create multi-machine configurations and deploy them on the host machines. While creating configurations, LabManager provides unparalleled automation capabilities to quickly create software stacks on machines, and bring up multiple machines in a a defined and synchronized sequence. Users can also benefit from LabManager's advanced networking capabilities - which will allow them to create production like multi-machine setups. With network zoning, users can instantiate multiple copies of a multi-machine configuration, without worrying about IP or MAC address conflicts. While deploying these configurations, users can benefit from the significant flexibility offered to deploy multi-machine configurations on host machines.
Users need not use LabManager in isolation. They can very easily leverage the benefits of a virtual lab automation solution from industry leading test automation solutions such as IBM Rational ClearQuest and HP Quality Center and build systems such as IBM Rational BuildForge.

Enabling sharing |
|
With multiple users accessing the virtual lab, users can leverage the advanced sharing and collaboration functionality in LabManager to share artefacts and scope the sharing with appropriate permissions. Also, as the number of resource artefacts increase, LabManager provides powerful filtering capabilities for users to access and work with a specific set of resources. As edit modifications/add resources/change configurations etc. are made in the lab, an event notification system tracks and alerts users.
LabManager allows users to easily capture, snapshot and share active multi-machine configurations (as easy as emailing a URL to a colleague) with other users.

LabManager enables self-serve provisioning of lab IT infrastructure. It reduces lab administration time and simplifies the process. Towards this end, LabManager provides some advanced reporting capabilities to allow users to track resource utilization. Fine grained audit trails are also maintained and this enables administrators to monitor user activity in the lab. With the ability to create custom fields, users can segregate resources based on various company groups or divisions.
