VMLogix Solution for Education Institutes and Universities: Features

VMLogix is proud to offer Education Institutes and Learning Organizations worldwide access to a free version of the award winning VMLogix virtual lab management solution. VMLogix LabManager is a powerful virtual lab management solution that enables IT administrators to use any of the leading virtualization platforms to consolidate virtual lab infrastructures and enables end users (i.e., students) to gain access to lab infrastructure in a policy controlled, automated and self service manner.

Below is a list of specific VMLogix management features that are beneficial in a University lab environment. For a full list of product features, please click here .

Self-Service Web Management Console

  • Allow instructors, IT staff and students to easily create, manage, share, and deploy multi-machine configurations based on self-service policies, quotas, and user permissions.

User and Team Management

  • Organize students into teams (e.g., a team could be a group of students subscribed to a specific course in a semester) and scope the sharing of lab artefacts by classes so that only relevant artefacts are displayed for each student.

IP Zones

  • Allow multiple users (students and instructors) to safely deploy concurrent copies of suspended multi-machine configurations without changing MAC addresses, static IP addresses or Windows SIDs.

Shared Snapshots

  • Capture and share "live" multi-machine configurations from the configuration library. Captured configurations preserve memory and CPU state and can be redeployed instantly.

Advanced Job Scheduling

  • Instructors or students can specify the priority of the job, specify the number of times a job is to be deployed, lease duration for a job and schedule a wait in the job deployment (i.e., a time after which the deployment is to occur)

Security Controls and Audit Trails

  • Ensure system integrity of the university virtual lab with strict authentication, role-based access control, and comprehensive audit trails.

Remote Multi-machine Console Viewers

  • Students and instructors can view and interact with multi-machine test environments using VNC in a single browser window or Microsoft Remote Desktop.
